Master Campfire Chef 2nd to 4th June 2017
Between 2 and 4 June, 2017 a number of Scouts, Cubs, Joeys and Venturers from the Cobargo group joined members of other groups from across NSW at the 1st Yass Scout Camp at Bowning near Yass for Master Campfire Chef
Each Scout troop participated in the preparation of a meal. The most satisfying was lunch on Sunday – prepared by the 1st Cobargo Scouts. The images will clearly show how warm the weather was NOT.
All participants were engaged in activities relevant to their place in the troop (Scout, Cub and Joey.)
Scouts built bush furniture, shelters and were involved in the cooking of meals. Cubs and Joeys engaged in bush craft : collection of fuel for a fire, safe clearing for a fire, safe lighting and extinguishing of a fire, cooking over a fire and eating their meal. They also collected material and constructed a shelter for a theoretical overnight stay. They were also involved in craft tasks.
Despite the long journey by Scout bus to and from the camp, and the extreme of weather, the troop members and leaders and parent helpers had a wonderful time.
