The recent JOTA-JOTI event at Cobargo was truly a weekend to remember, buzzing with excitement and brimming with opportunities that celebrated the spirit of international Scouting.
With over 75 youth members joining us for this global adventure, the Cobargo site was alive with the sounds of laughter, learning, and the unmistakable energy that comes from Scouts of all ages working and growing together. It was wonderful to welcome friends from the Batemans Bay, Cooma, and Merimbula Scout groups—our campsite transformed into a vibrant hub of exploration and camaraderie.
Across the two days and with a night under the stars, Scouts dived into a fantastic range of 24 activities that made up our official JOTA-JOTI bingo card. There was never a dull moment! From dynamic CB radio chats and online chat forums that reached over 24 different countries to the thrill of using the internet to connect live with Scouts around the globe, every participant had the chance to discover just how big and friendly our worldwide Scouting community truly is.
Many tried their hand at soldering an amazing game “Don’t Touch” —a highlight for all those keen on electronics—and everyone got to learn a host of valuable new skills, from technical know-how to creative problem-solving and international communication.
The camp itself was another highlight, with tents pitched close and friendships growing closer still. Parents outdid themselves in providing delicious catering that kept spirits high and tummies full; their generosity and effort added so much warmth to the weekend, and we can’t thank them enough for their support.
As the sun set, it was clear that every Scout had achieved something special—whether it was ticking off all 24 bingo activities or conquering new challenges. The joy of making friends from around the world, the teamwork required for every activity, and the confidence that comes from trying something new left a lasting impression on everyone involved.
